Beautiful 1917 ABC Pocket Edition Gillette Old Type Silver Tone DE Safety Razor

The razor seems to be in nice condition, considering its age.The head shows some plating loss and wear, but maintains much luster as well.The handle shows some plating loss and wear, but remains attractive.
The case is in reasonably nice condition, considering its age.The exterior of the case shows plating loss, wear, and some areas of discoloration.The interior cloth or felt is in much nicer condition than one might expect, based on its age.The blade container also seems to remain in nice condition.
Additional information concerning ABC Pocket Edition Gillette Razors
At some point in 1908 Gillette contracted with the American Button Company of Newark, New Jerseyto produce a new style of razor. The new razors would consist of new and unusual designs where the razor handle was shaped somewhat like a Grecian column. What evolved were six different case and handle designs. The handles were solid and beautifully sculpted and the cases were smaller and ornate.
There were five handle designs:1) Shell with one ring (two variants exist. For more details, see below)2) Shell with two rings3) Scroll4) Flower5) Empire
Each of the five different designs came in either silver or gold.
The cases came in six different patterns:1) Empire2) Flower3) Shell4) Basket Weave5) Plain6) Leather
As with the razors, the metal cases came in either silver or gold.But unlike the razors, some cases have a Gunmetal finish and there is even a rarely seen leather case.
