Kampfe Bros Star / F. Herder Abr Sohn antique Safety Razor . We are pleased to present this shaving rarity for your consideration. It is the famous Kampfe Star Safety Razor which was invented by the Kampfe Brothers, complete with an original Litho Tin. This razor appears to be an export version, marked Made In Germany, and with the name F. Herder Abr Sohn marked on the end. This was a recent estate find, and we are not razor experts, so we'll leave it to the razor experts to sort out the details. We've included plenty of pictures for you to look at. We date the razor to the early years of the 20th century (c.1910?). The razor is designed to disassemble into pieces and fit into the small round tin shown. The pieces, with tin, weigh 3.1 ounces. The clip is to hold the strop. This item includes only what is shown in the pictures, which is everything that we received with it. Condition: The razor appears to be in very good condition, with a nice chromed trim area that is substantially intact. There is no obvious damage, and the two main parts of the handle fit together, and screw into the blade holder without issue. The tin is in fair condition. While it does not have any significant physical damage, the paint/artwork shows some material loss revealing the bare metal underneath. The remaining paint has darkened substantially from age, making it very difficult to read any of the labels. We wiped a small area with a wet cloth to see if that would improve the readability, but gave up when it didn't seem to help. The experienced restorer may know of a suitable solvent that will do a better job. All pictures show the actual razor you will receive. This item is offered in as-is condition.
