This 1938 Gillette Senator open comb double edge safety razor is in good condition for being 85 years old. The razor is made of high-quality brass and has a beautiful original nickel plating. The open comb design provides a more aggressive shave, making it ideal for men with thick or coarse facial hair. In preparation for this sale, I lightly scrubbed the razor with antibacterial soap and treated it with Barbicide disinfectant. I have not polished this razor at all. This listing includes Gillette Senator safety razor and the Gillette Blue blade, as photographed. This scarce razor would be a wonderful birthday or Father's Day present.
The Gillette Senator was the last American open comb razor to be released, debuting in 1937. The thin handle and TTO design lead to the development of the Super Speed series after WWII. These razors are true beauties in every sense of the word and represent the pinnacle of pre-war Gillette Safety Razor Company.
